WHAT'S HOT, WHAT'S NOT!
Volume 1
Issue #1

I've been meaning to do this for quite awhile now, and since we are FINALLY moved into our new store location, I feel I can devote the time to update this page once a week! The Franklin Mint, Danbury Mint and Creative Masters models, have become more then just another hobby or collectible to only be looked at and enjoyed. Since the introduction of the FM 1961 Limited Edition Lincoln Pebble Beach car in 1996, many of FM/DM/CM's models have risen in price, some DRASTICALLY! Most of you who are reading this, probably watch the D4C auction and eBay auctions (besides the FEW other auctions where these models sometimes appear), and are familiar with prices there. That's only a small segment of this hobby! MOST collectors still do not have access to the Internet, and prices of many of the scarcer models, are often HIGHER then what they appear to bring on open auctions!

Probably the HOTTEST model offered today, is the Franklin Mint's Limited Edition of 2000, 1969 Black with White stripes Camaro. This model was SOLD OUT by FM within 3 weeks of announcement, and with a SUPPOSED limit of one to a customer, and only available at FM Gallery stores. We've learned since this information has come out that 1250 pieces were earmarked for the Gallery stores with the remainder (750 pieces) going to the FM Independent Retail Dealers program. I guess FM finally decided to throw these independent dealers a bone (they originally had been given an exclusive on the 1956 Bronze/Cream Limited Edition Chevy convertible, over 2 years ago, and had been promised a L.E. for them every year!) and let those people join in the fun and profit! Most of these dealers had no idea that this new model was available (no one reads press releases to them!) and the few that did, were smart enough to stock up as many as they could. As cases are, all these models have been spoken for, and this model is truly gone from the primary market! Currently prices on the secondary market have ranged from a low of $225.00 to over $300.00. With the advent of collector/investor/dealer interest, there has been a rush to sell their duplicates on the various auction sites for a quick profit! At the current prices, these appear to be an EXCELLENT investment as this is a NICE looking model and appears to STICK with collector/investors! The LOW total mintage has assured it a place in the sun, as many Chevy/Camaro collectors are interested in it. FM used some forethought when releasing this one in realizing its potential popularity! I see this model in the $350-$450 price range by Christmas!

As an aside, the recent release of the CM 1969 Blue with White stripes Camaro with an Limited Edition of 3000 has apparently fallen on hard times and is currently NOT HOT! CM had a real winner here, as the model is well made, a sight to behold and again a popular marque! Their mistake, was to release these to a group of dealers that were also in it for the quick buck! After the initial release and sales on auction of over $150.00 (retail had been $135.00 and was later lowered to $115.00, the WRONG way to make collectors happy!) prices have PLUMMETED to a LOW of $74.95! NOW is the smart collector/investors opportunity to buy up a great L.E. for a song! (by the way, I DO NOT have these available).

Lots more to talk about, especially the new D4C L.E. Packard Darin, and some other issues that are due for BIG price increases soon. All that next week!

Well folks, what do you think? I didn't want to touch too many bases first time out, but if I get a good response from this, I'll try to give you a little more INSIGHT into the wheeler-dealer part of the hobby and the STRAIGHT scoop, as I see it! Email feedback appreciated!
